Managing the health of their clients has been the number one thing most healthcare providers have been championing for a long time. Thankfully, healthcare information technology, popularly referred to as healthcare IT, has come to help how these firms handle and manage the various parts of their management system. The outcome now is better service delivery, with many patients accessing the information on their health fast, something they wouldn’t be able to do without healthcare IT.

Patient data collection and keeping every part of patient health information have now been made easy and fast. Survey shows that since the introduction of health IT, over 80% of healthcare providers agree that thanks to health IT has enabled them to expedite service delivery, keep accurate and up-to-date patient health records that include prescriptions, child immunization records, and other relevant medical notes. Other subtle benefits that come with healthcare IT are evidenced when medical practitioners dispense medications to their patients. Even before medicine dispensation, physicians can now use healthcare IT when tracking patient healthcare information, creating and sending medical prescriptions to a pharmacy as long as it is linked in the system, from the comfort of their seats.

On their part, patients can also use healthcare IT to monitor the progress of their health. For instance, now more than any other time in history, patients can use various apps developed by experienced app developers. These apps can contain the person’s information, including the name, age, size, and weight. Once the information is keyed in the system, the app can remind the owner of when to take drugs, do an exercise, schedule a visit to a doctor, warn them when they pass a specific limit such as weight, etc.

A recent survey conducted and released by the Office of the National Coordinator for Health IT shows impressive strides. In part, the report says, “One in every three people tracked their healthcare charges as well as costs using their Smartphones, computer, tablets, or any other electronic device that would hold an app. These individuals did this far away from the facilities, which they would otherwise visit physically.” Because of its demand, there is a need for app developers to continue refining the various parts of healthcare IT apps.
